Salute to Veterans

This event is an effort to give a fitting tribute to those men and women both past and present; soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, firefighters, policemen, and all of the civilian service people in this country that place their lives on the line that we may live in this land of the free and home of the brave.

I have often thought that a fireworks display on Lake Pueblo would be a spectacular event with the mountain silhouette, water reflection and boats along the shore.  It was a dream that I wanted to fulfill in honor of these veterans on Memorial Day.  As a retired Air Force captain, I have a deep respect for men and women in uniform, both military and civilian.  I wanted to give back something to tell them they are appreciated and remembered.  My hobby is pyrotechnics.

What better way to say “thank you” than with a celebration in the sky.  Francis Scott Key gave us this opportunity to commemorate our heritage with the Star Spangled Banner with the phrase “and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there”.

The Salute to Veterans also included a balloon launch as a personal way to remember someone special on Memorial Day.

Last year's show was successful.  We hope to make this an annual event.  It is our ultimate goal to establish a scholarship program for the worthy sons and daughters of individuals who have given their lives in the service of this great country of ours.  We have established this Salute to Veterans non-profit organization as a means to that goal.

Thank you for taking an active role in this event.
